Students in all grades would start their Tet holidays on Feb. 5 and resume classes on the 19th, the 10th of the lunar month, Ho Tan Minh, spokesman of the city's Department of Education and Training, said Monday, as cited by Suc Khoe & Doi Song newspaper.
Feb. 3 and 4 fall on the weekend.
For public holidays, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs made a proposal to the government last month with two alternative options, both involving a seven-day break, one starting a day before Tet and the other two days before. The Lunar New Year falls on Feb. 10.
The Ministries of Home Affairs and Culture, Sports and Tourism have voted to start the holidays two days before the lunar year, or Feb. 8.
