Two months ago, while teaching math to second graders, he was using a gong as an aid.
When he noticed a child was distracted from the lesson, Phuc hit down on a table with the gong, inadvertently hitting the latter on his head.
The student was taken to hospital.
Phuc visited his home to apologize several times but was rebuffed.
The maximum punishment for harming a student’s honor or dignity or body is dismissal.
