Education strategy for globalization era
In recent years, Vietnam's education sector has undergone significant changes, with a particular focus on promoting lifelong learning. This approach has become essential for building a sustainable education system and enhancing the quality of the workforce, aligning with the growing demand for talent in the age of globalization and digital transformation.
In recognition of the importance of lifelong learning, the government has launched the "Nationwide Initiative to Build a Learning Society and Promote Lifelong Learning for the 2023-2030 Period." This initiative supports a learning society through flexible methods, including formal education and online platforms, designed to suit various needs and circumstances. Learners are encouraged to participate regardless of age, status, or life situation.
Lifelong learning with practical impact
Within this context, British University Vietnam (BUV) has been actively promoting lifelong learning and the philosophy of Purpose-Based Impact Learning (PBIL). This approach extends beyond knowledge transfer, focusing on the development of practical skills that help learners address real-world challenges in both their professional and personal lives.
By encouraging students and learners to expand their education beyond the classroom, PBIL fosters the application of knowledge in real-world contexts. This method aims to equip learners with essential skills to succeed in the global workforce and contribute positively to society.

BUV's commitment to lifelong learning is evident in its efforts to reach not only students but also a wide demographic of learners. These include training courses for secondary and high school students, advanced programs for teachers, and specialized courses for business and government leaders.
Most recently, as part of its collaboration with Hanoi DOET, BUV conducted a professional development program for more than 1,000 education leaders. This initiative highlights the university's support for career development and the enhancement of leadership capacity in the education sector, contributing to an innovative, creative, and sustainable education system in Vietnam.
Sustainable educational development
The training program for education leaders in Hanoi—spanning preschool to high school levels—aims to strengthen management capabilities and leadership skills in a contemporary educational setting.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Tran The Cuong, Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training, emphasized the significance of the program, expressing hope that participants would adopt and apply modern teaching knowledge and methodologies shared by local and international experts, ultimately contributing to the capital's educational reform.

Participants will be trained in "Human Resource Management Towards Autonomy and Creativity," aimed at fostering a flexible and creative working environment. This module integrates research and the application of advanced global educational models, such as Montessori and High Tech High, tailored to the context and conditions of Vietnamese schools.
The "Teaching Leadership Models and Practical Application, International Experience" module enables participants to explore decentralized and transformative leadership methods inspired by renowned schools worldwide, including Vantaa Elementary School in Finland and Poughkeepsie Day School in the United States.
"Developing School Management Skills in the Digital Transformation Era" equips participants with knowledge of emerging technologies in management and teaching, covering online learning platforms and data management tools.
The "Application of Technology in Teaching, Assessment, and Grading of Students" module trains participants to proficiently use modern technological tools for designing lesson plans and assessing student competencies, thereby enhancing teaching quality and learning outcome evaluation.

James McMillan, representing BUV's lecturer and training expert group, underscored the importance of strengthening school governance capacities in the digital era.
"With contributions from international experts and modern teaching methods, the program not only provides theoretical knowledge but also emphasizes practical application, enabling Hanoi's education leaders to lead effectively and address emerging challenges in a dynamic economic and educational environment," he said.
Overall, the training series demonstrates a collective effort to foster an advanced and sustainable education system, contributing to the nation's goal of improving education quality and developing a high-caliber workforce for the future. As part of BUV's ongoing collaborations with government agencies, it reflects the spirit of lifelong learning and continuous innovation crucial for meeting the needs and challenges of a rapidly changing world.
