BUV appoints 4 global experts to spearhead academic schools

British University Vietnam (BUV) has appointed four new heads of school as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its reputation for offering quality British education and provide the learning experience on its 5-star campus.

These appointments align with BUV's strategic vision of being viewed as the number one international university in Vietnam and the surrounding region.

The selection process for these academic leaders was based on rigorous criteria, including doctoral credentials from internationally renowned institutions, experience in both academia and industry, and a commitment to addressing societal challenges through research.

The newly appointed heads of school are part of BUV's restructured faculty, in which 60% hold PhDs and 100% possess international qualifications.

Dr. Mark Wheaton holds a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Newcastle, Australia. With over two decades of experience in higher education, he has held leadership roles in finance, accounting, and business administration at Kaplan Business School in Australia and RMIT University in Vietnam.

His expertise in corporate finance and risk management has contributed to the development of financial strategies adopted by educational institutions and businesses. Dr. Wheaton is also a speaker on topics related to innovation in accounting education and global risk management.

He incorporates business simulations and case studies into the curriculum to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application.

Dr. Ali Al-Dulaimi holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University, Canada, and has completed postdoctoral research fellowships at Concordia University and York University.

With 25 years of experience, he has held leadership positions in academia and industry across multiple regions, including the Middle East, North America and other regions.

Recognized with numerous global awards, Dr. Al-Dulaimi brings extensive expertise and a strong professional network. His approach emphasizes industry engagement and innovation in technological education.

Dr. Paul D.J. Moody holds a PhD from the Royal College of Art, London, the world's number 1 (QS ranked) Art & Design institution. With over 20 years of experience in higher education and a 34-year career in media production, he has worked across various creative fields, including feature films, television series, documentaries, arts, advertising, and promotions.

He has held influential academic positions at institutions such as the National Film and Television School (U.K.), the University of London, the Royal College of Art, the London College of Communication, London Film School, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and Ramon Llull University (Barcelona).

Dr. Moody's contributions to award-winning productions and his work in media archives, including the British Film Institute's National Archive, reflect his expertise in the field. His teaching encourages students to experiment and think creatively.

Dr. Simon Kimber holds a PhD from the University of Surrey, U.K., a top 3 globally ranked university (ShanghaiRanking). He has over 15 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership, having served at Swansea University and the University of Surrey's international campus, Surrey International Institute (SII-DUFE).

His research focuses on sustainable development, global mobility, and emerging technologies, securing international funding and publication in high-impact journals. His background in international education management will support the development of postgraduate programs at BUV.

Under the leadership of Associate Professor Jason MacVaugh, Dean (Higher Education), these new academic leaders will contribute to BUV's mission of cultivating the next generations of "lionhearted" - young global citizens with academic excellence and resilience to thrive in an ever-changing world.
