Students studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) at the British International School (BIS) Hanoi in 2024 have once again performed significantly above the global average.

A total of 55 students at BIS Hanoi studied for IB exams this year.

As well as achieving an outstanding pass rate, the students' average score was 34.7, exceeding the global average of 30.3.

This is the seventh consecutive year BIS Hanoi students have continued beating the global average, placing them among the world's highest achievers among hundreds of thousands of IBDP students from across the globe.

Many BIS Hanoi students will continue their academic studies at the world's best universities, including University of Edinburgh (U.K.), University of Manchester (U.K.), New York University (U.S.), University of Toronto (Canada), Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

The class of 2024 graduates also scored an average of 5.51 per exam sat, compared with 4.85 worldwide.

They also secured an impressive 98% pass rate, compared with 80% for the rest of the world.

In addition, 1 in 7 cohort students received 40+ points, and our top score achieved is 44 points.

Furthermore, 65.3% of the cohort achieved the special distinction of a bilingual diploma (BD), demonstrating first-language proficiency in two languages.

This result demonstrates the school's dedication to fostering an inclusive environment that prioritizes the continuous development of students' native languages alongside English, resulting in enhanced classroom engagement and academic achievement.

Head of Secondary Chris Newman said that he's thrilled with the school's latest IBDP results, showcasing the dedication and hard work of the students and staff.

He assessed that BIS has remained strong, consistent performance year to year in the IBDP.

This year, for the first time ever, the school's most important measure—statistical "value-add"—is p positive, which means they as a school are making a significant difference, and this makes him most proud.

"These results are a testament to our commitment to excellence in education," added BIS's Head of Secondary.

In addition, BIS Hanoi Principal Richard Vaughan also said that these results reflect the students' collective desire to continually strive for personal achievement, making the most of the incredible learning opportunities afforded to them throughout their time at BIS Hanoi.

Recognized by more than 5,000 top universities in over 100 different countries across the world, the IBDP at BIS Hanoi inspires students to excel academically, personally, and creatively.

This excellence is achieved through dynamic teaching, real-world experiences, and the opportunity to truly personalize how and what they learn.

According to the International Baccalaureate Organization, evidence shows that students in the IBDP tend to pursue higher education at higher rates than their peers.

They are also more frequently admitted to selective institutions and perform better in their post-secondary studies, with higher rates of post-secondary completion.

Armed with an IB Diploma, the majority of BIS graduates receive offers from their first-choice universities, half of which rank in the world's top 100.
