The HCMC Greenery Parks Company has proposed using drones to evaluate the status of trees in the city following several cases of fallen trees and branches, some with deadly consequences.

Drones are proposed to be used within this month to evaluate the status of trees, so that large branches can be made more secured to their trunks. The company is also proposing to rent vehicles with long cranes to cut off flawed branches.

The company would hire engineers and other workers to evaluate risks when dealing with the trees. The firm is also expected to contact professional units from Singapore to open training classes for tree evaluation.

Several cases of falling trees and branches have occurred in HCMC.

On Aug. 9, a branch from a tree 25 m tall fell and killed two people in Tao Dan Park in District 1. Earlier in the month, another tree injured a motorbike rider on Ly Chinh Thang Street in District 3.
