Driver attacked with machetes, polearms at red light

Around 10 men assaulted a driver at a red light on National Highway 1 in southern Vietnam on Wednesday afternoon.

The 35-year-old driver was on his way from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta. When he stopped at the red light in Thu Thua District of Long An Province, 10 men approached him on motorbikes.

Carrying machetes and polearms, they smashed the car, screaming "kill him!" while attacking the driver.

After five minutes, the group left the scene, leaving the victim with severe injuries.

The entire incident was captured on the car's dashcam.

The driver did his best to drive to Tan An Town of Long An Province, which is 40 minutes away, and was taken to hospital by family members.

Police are currently searching for the 10 assailants.
