Authorities in the Central Highlands' resort town Da Lat have suspended horse carriage services around its central lake Xuan Huong due to multiple violations, including the absence of standardized pricing.

The issues identified by authorities include unregistered businesses, improper accounting, failure to pay taxes and safety concerns related to the carriages. Additionally, the carriages have been found to produce unpleasant odors.

According to the Da Lat economic department, around 30 horse-drawn carriages have been operating around Xuan Huong Lake without proper authorization. All carriages are represented by a single person, with prices ranging from VND80,000 to VND100,000 ($3.13 to $3.91) per ride.

In response, the Da Lat People’s Committee has instructed the urban management department and other relevant units to relocate the services to Tuyen Lam Lake, part of the Tuyen Lam Lake national tourism area. The relocated services will be managed as cooperatives, ensuring compliance with regulations.

Xuan Huong Lake, a 25-hectare national site, is a major tourist attraction in Da Lat.
