Cuba and Vietnam have been supporting each other in recovering from effects of wars, natural disasters, and pandemics.

The two countries established their diplomatic ties in December 1960 after the success of the Cuban Revolution.

Vietnam has aided Cuba in agricultural production since then, including the production of corn, soybean, and seafood. Cuba imports 300,000-400,000 tons of rice from Vietnam every year.

Various Vietnamese businesses have started projects relating to developing infrastructure in industrial areas, producing construction materials, and manufacturing washing powder in Cuba.

Cuba also sent 5 million Covid-19 vaccines to Vietnam during the pandemic.

The two countries’ bilateral trade turnover reached $182 million in 2022, a decrease of 30% compared to 2021 due to the pandemic, while Vietnam's total investment into Cuba reached $28.4 million.
