Turkish man tied up, robbed in Pattaya cryptocurrency heist

Masis Erkol, 36, was found with his hands and feet secured using handcuffs and wires inside a room at an unnamed condominium on Soi Wat Bun Kanchanaram, according to a security guard. Erkol had attempted to exit his room on the 5th floor in search of help, the Bangkok Post reported.

Police stated that Erkol was held captive by three men who forced him to transfer cryptocurrency into a digital wallet. In addition to the financial theft, the assailants also stole his computer during the ordeal.

Authorities believe that the perpetrators may have been familiar with Erkol or had knowledge of the building’s security systems, Thaiger reported.
