Nanjaijumpa Kham-Ai was caught relieving himself into a drain near Sungei Tengah Lodge around 7 p.m. on Dec. 17, 2024, according to The Straits Times.
When approached by officers Ong Seng Hock and Prabakar Hisparan, who were patrolling for the National Environment Agency, he tried to settle the matter with a cash bribe, CNA reported.
Despite multiple refusals, Nanjaijumpa persisted and even slipped the money into one of the officers’ sling bags. The officers, who work for security firm Certis Cisco, rejected the offer again and alerted the police. Nanjaijumpa was arrested on the spot.
He pleaded guilty on June 2 to a corruption charge. Speaking through a Thai interpreter and without legal representation, he apologized in court and vowed not to repeat the offense.
In Singapore, bribing public officers is a serious crime that carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a fine of up to S$100,000.
