A 24-year-old security guard in Penang has been arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) on charges of raping an Australian female tourist.

The 21-year-old victim said that on June 27, she and a male friend from the U.K. were drinking at a bar.

After her friend complained of a headache, the suspect approached them and offered to take them to hospital.

However, the suspect allegedly abandoned the British man along the way and took the Australian woman to a different location where he sexually assaulted her, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Following the victim's report, police arrested the suspect on June 28.

The case is currently under investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, according to World of Buzz.
