Russian national arrested in Thailand over sex work on resort island

Alina Nizamutdinova, 34, was detained on May 8 in Surat Thani Province after undercover police arranged a meeting through online advertisements, according to reports from the Bangkok Post and Thaiger.

The arrest took place at a resort in Ban Tai subdistrict, where an undercover officer posed as a client. Authorities recovered 11,000 baht (US$333) in cash and a condom at the scene.

During questioning, Nizamutdinova allegedly admitted to charging 11,000 baht per hour for sexual services. She has been charged with prostitution and public solicitation.
