Authorities in the beach resort city of Nha Trang are investigating a violent altercation that escalated into a road chase between foreign tourists and local individuals.

A video circulating on social media has brought widespread attention to the incident, depicting several people armed with sticks and weapons chasing after the tourists.

Tran Xuan Tay, chairman of the Nha Trang Ward People's Committee, confirmed on Friday that police are verifying the footage and working to determine the cause of the conflict.

The video captures a chaotic scene where a group of foreign tourists becomes embroiled in a scuffle with several Vietnamese individuals carrying weapons.

In the footage, a foreign man is seen rushing forward to kick a young man but misses and falls to the ground. He is immediately swarmed by a group of youths wielding iron rods who beat him repeatedly.

Despite attempts by his companions and other bystanders to intervene or shout for the attackers to stop, the group continues the assault, forcing the tourists to flee for safety. The foreign man falls a second time a short distance away and is subjected to further violence before the group eventually disperses.

A video shared on social media shows foreign tourists being chased after and beaten in Nha Trang.

This incident follows a separate confrontation approximately one month ago involving staff at a local beachside bar and a group of foreign customers in Nha Trang. In that case, the bar's employees reportedly used a shovel and a plastic chair to intimidate and threaten tourists following a dispute over service and behavior.

The management of the establishment involved subsequently apologized to the affected visitors and announced that disciplinary action had been taken against the staff members.

Nha Trang remains a premier destination for international travelers, celebrated for its expansive bay, clear waters, and mild coastal climate.

The city welcomed approximately 14.8 million overnight visitors in 2025, including 4.6 million international tourists. Total tourism revenue for the year was estimated at more than VND 60.3 trillion (US$2.37 billion).
