Malaysia have arrested six people including five immigration officers for receiving bribes from agents to ease the entry of foreign workers, seizing around RM2 million (US$477,000) in jewelry and gold pieces.

In a statement on their TikTok page, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the raids were conducted from Sept. 9 to 11.

A total of 3.2 kg of jewelry worth RM1.6 million and 75 gold pieces worth around RM400,000 were seized, The Star reported.

MACC deputy chief commissioner Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said the group were suspected of allowing foreigners to enter the country without proper immigration checks.

In addition, authorities also seized a plot of land, a house, several luxury vehicles, various handbags, 20 branded watches worth approximately RM100,000 and RM20,000 in cash, Asia One reported.

Investigation is ongoing.
