A man in Nha Trang City is under investigation after threatening a female guard at a public park with a sword after she reprimanded him for picking flowers in the park.

The incident occurred on Jan. 11 when the man parked his Mercedes car along a roadside and entered a park to pick flowers for a woman accompanying him.

Nha Trang's deputy chairman, Luu Thanh Nhan, confirmed on Sunday that the authorities had summoned the man, Nguyen Thanh Binh, and confiscated the sword, which was still in his Mercedes car when police arrived.

Binh, a businessman known by the nickname "Binh Junior," is now under investigation.

According to a representative from the Nha Trang Urban Environment Co. Ltd, Binh, dressed in a black suit, drove his Mercedes to a park in Loc Tho Ward to pick flowers for the woman traveling with him.

When a female security guard approached to reprimand him, he responded with verbal abuse.

As the argument escalated, he then returned to his car, retrieved a sword about 50 cm long, and threatened the guard. The woman accompanying him intervened to stop the confrontation, and the man left the scene about 10 minutes later.

"The details of the conversation between the guard and the man remain unclear, but fortunately, no one was harmed," said the company representative.

During police questioning, Binh admitted to picking the flowers for a colleague. He claimed that some individuals at the park "pressured and confronted" him, which angered him and led to the threatening behavior.

Nha Trang police are gathering evidence to take appropriate legal action against Binh.
