409 Vietnamese who illegally entered Cambodia, including those who worked at casinos, who were wanted and committed crimes, had been handed over back to Vietnam.

The police of southern Tay Ninh Province that borders Cambodia, in cooperation with border guards and local authorities, on Thursday verified information about the Vietnamese before handing them back to their localities.

Most of the Vietnamese who returned were those who illegally entered Cambodia for work, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia. Many were exploited and so contacted Cambodian authorities for help.

Last week, the General Department of the National Police under the Cambodian Ministry of the Interior performed a check at the Venus Casino & Resort area in Svay Rieng Province. Over 400 Vietnamese citizens were detained for entering Cambodia and working illegally, among other violations.
