They identified the suspects as Nguyen Van Dai, 31, and Nguyen Quang Truong, 28, who have previous criminal records for theft, drug offenses and assault.
They said the theft occurred on April 4 when Dai and Truong, riding a motorbike in search of valuables to steal, noticed the car parked on National Highway 3.
They got off, physically lifted the car onto bricks, and removed all four wheels , which cost VND13 million (US$502) when new.
They hid the stolen wheels at Dai's home initially before he moved them to Truong's place on April 6.
But later that night Truong got rid of them by throwing them into a nearby dam.
