Vietnam confirmed 133 new local Covid-19 cases Monday evening in six localities, taking the day's total to 267.

70 of the evening's new cases were recorded in HCMC, 30 in Bac Giang, 21 in Binh Duong, six in Bac Ninh, four in Da Nang and two in Hung Yen.

Of the new cases in HCMC, 49 cases are related to previous infections, 14 cases to an industrial park in Binh Tan District and seven associated with a Christian mission Covid-19 cluster.

The new cases recorded in Bac Giang Province were found in quarantine camps and blockaded areas. All the cases are related to workers in the province's industrial parks.

The neighboring province of Bac Ninh recorded one case who had come into contact with a previously confirmed patient and the rest are linked to its industrial parks.

In Binh Duong, 18 cases are associated with a Covid-19 cluster in Thuan An Town, two to a market in HCMC's Hoc Mon District and one case detected through contact tracing.

All cases detected in Da Nang had been quarantined prior to testing while the two cases in Hung Yen are being contact traced to find the infection sources

The Health Ministry also discharged 224 patients and announced three deaths Monday, raising the number of recoveries to 5,453.

Since April 27, when the new wave began in Vietnam, 10,211 infections have been recorded in 42 of the nation's 63 cities and provinces.
