Chinese naval vessel arrives in Da Nang for three-day visit

Chinese largest training vessel Qi Jiguang on Tuesday arrived in Da Nang's Tien Sa Port to begin a three-day visit.

The 476 officers and other personnel on the naval vessel are to meet with Da Nang People's Committee, as well as military commands. The vessel itself will also allow representatives of the Chinese community in Vietnam to go onboard for sightseeing, and arrange meals for Da Nang authorities and consulates.

Some 200 officers and sailors of the vessel will go sightseeing in Da Nang, visiting attractions like Son Tra Peninsula and Linh Ung Pagoda, as well as visiting Chinese businesses and organizations in Quang Nam. Vietnamese and Chinese naval forces are also set to take part in football matches as an exchange activity.

On Wednesday, officers and sailors of the High Command of Region 3 of the Vietnam People's Navy in central Vietnam will board the vessel to discuss joint drill programs. The visit is to end on Thursday with a drill with the command.

The Qi Jiguang is China's largest and most modern training vessel. It began operations in 2017, and its maximum speed is 40 kph. It is equipped with cannons and machine guns and is capable of carrying over 400 people.
