Four people in Hanoi were arrested for tricking a Chinese man to a motel and robbing him.

Nguyen Van Truong, 27; Lai Van Hai and Truong Van Yeu, both 29; and Tran Thuy Lien, 32 are to be investigated for robbery.

On Oct. 14, due to a lack of money, the group thought about robbing the Chinese man, who Truong works for as an interpreter.

Truong called the Chinese man that afternoon and invited him to a drinking party at a motel in Cau Giay District. When he arrived, the group incapacitated him, using tapes to bind his arms and legs.

Truong requested the Chinese man to call someone to transfer him VND60 million ($2,414), and also took cash worth nearly $1,000 from him, along with two phones and other belongings.

After the robbery, the group left, and the Chinese man reported the matter to the police.
