A Chinese business executive in Binh Duong Province allegedly killed his girlfriend in their office on Wednesday and attempted to escape, but was arrested by the police.

Chang Chao Ching, 57, the director of a company in Ben Cat Town of the southern province, reportedly had romantic relations with a 27-year-old worker from the An Giang Province, the police said on Wednesday.

Their preliminary investigation found he had an argument with the woman and stabbed her with a knife and killed her. He fled in a car, but was arrested by the police soon afterward.

He resisted arrest by barricading himself inside the car and then tried to kill himself by slicing his own wrist and throat. But officers managed to get inside, apprehend him and take him to hospital.

The reason for his attack is not known.
