A Chinese national has been arrested for smashing a Mercedes car belonging to his business partners with a golf club in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

Luo Tian Hua, 48, of Guangdong Province in China could face charges of "intentionally damaging assets," the province People’s Procuracy, the prosecutor’s office, said Tuesday.

Luo, who works as a property broker in Bac Ninh, told investigators he did not receive the promised commission from the two partners, a husband-and-wife couple.

They argued on social media and challenged each other, he said.

At around 10:40 p.m. on Feb. 4 the couple drove their Mercedes GLC 200 to Lou’s house to talk.

At seeing them he threw five ceramic wine bottles but failed to hit them.

He then used a golf club and smashed the car repeatedly, causing damage worth VND256 million (US$10,500).

Lou was arrested after the two complained to the police.
