Buffalo breaks woman's ribs in shocking street attack in Vietnam

The 300 kg bull buffalo had escaped its pen and was seen wandering the streets of Dong Hoa, Nong Cong District, Thanh Hoa on the morning of July 14. As it approached a small park, the animal suddenly charged at the woman's motorbike, ramming into her and knocking both to the ground.

When the woman tried to get up, the buffalo attacked again, forcing her onto the sidewalk before two men intervened and chased the animal away.

Officials said the woman suffered broken ribs and multiple injuries. She remains in hospital under observation.

The buffalo, recently bought from neighboring Nghe An Province, had escaped from its owner's enclosure but has since been secured.

Local leaders said they will tighten livestock safety rules and urge farmers to strengthen fences to prevent similar attacks in crowded neighborhoods.
