A giant "25" formed from 600 loaves of bread is set to claim a Guinness World Record on Oct. 25 as part of a fundraising event supporting disadvantaged youth.

The record attempt is organized by RMIT University Vietnam and social enterprise KOTO, in partnership with VnExpress's Hope Foundation. The event both raises funds for KOTO's Dream School and celebrates Vietnamese culture through the iconic banh mi.

In total, 600 loaves of bread will be arranged to form the number "25," witnessed by 1,000 attendees and representatives from Guinness World Records.

Explaining the choice of banh mi, Jodie Altan, Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Engagement) at RMIT Vietnam, noted that it is more than just a dish. "Banh mi carries Vietnam's story to the world—one of creativity, resilience, and connection. In many ways, RMIT Vietnam shares that mission: bringing world-class education to Vietnam while staying deeply rooted in its people and culture," Altan said.

Founded in 1999, KOTO (Know One, Teach One) is Vietnam's first legally recognized social enterprise, dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through vocational training in hospitality and tourism, alongside comprehensive life-skills education.

Over the past 25 years, KOTO has transformed the lives of nearly 1,700 disadvantaged youth, many from ethnic minorities and remote areas. All graduates secure employment and continue to give back to their communities.

In recent years, the Hope Foundation has connected numerous orphaned students and ethnic minority youth from remote provinces to KOTO. With the launch of its new Dream School facility, the organization aims to train 300 students annually.

Your contribution will support KOTO’s Dream School, empowering disadvantaged youth, ethnic minorities, and those from remote areas to seize opportunities and build brighter futures.
