A Vietnamese returnee from Australia has been confirmed as Vietnam's latest Covid-19 patient, taking the national tally to 1,099.

The new patient is a 28-year-old woman who lives in Ninh Kieu District, southern Can Tho City. She landed September 23 at the Can Tho International Airport on Bamboo Airways flight QH89 and was quarantined on arrival.

She tested positive for the novel coronavirus Monday and is being treated at the Can Tho Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases Hospital.

Of the 1,099 Covid-19 patients in Vietnam, 1,023 have recovered and 35 have died.

The country has gone 34 days without community transmission of the novel coronavirus. The active patients are all in stable health, with 18 of them having tested negative for the virus at least once.

There are over 14,000 people in isolation nationwide, 11,000 in quarantine facilities, 200 in hospitals and the rest at home. Covid-19 has claimed over one million lives globally.
