The average worker’s income in the third quarter rose 46% year-on-year to VND7.6 million ($318), Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said at a government meeting Saturday.

A government survey found 83% of respondents saying their income had risen or stayed unchanged year-on-year, he said.

Vietnam's labor market continued to recover with a 50.8 million strong workforce in the third quarter.

The nation's unemployment rate fell 1.7% points year-on-year to 2.28%.

The government has disbursed VND85 trillion in support for 55 million individuals and 856,000 businesses since July last year, the meeting heard.

Over 5 million workers have received VND3.5 trillion in assistance to pay their rents, it was reported.
