Around 400,000 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine doses from Japan landed on HCMC's Tan Son Nhat Airport Saturday morning.

The doses' donation was announced by Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide on September 15, according to the Ministry of Health.

The new batch raises Japan's total vaccine donation to Vietnam to around 3.58 million doses since June.

Vietnam has received over 50 million Covid-19 vaccine doses from multiple sources. Around 29.5 million people have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine shots, and 7.3 million people have been fully vaccinated.

The country aims to secure 150 million vaccine doses to cover 70 percent of the population by next year.
