233 new local Covid-19 cases confirmed

Health authorities Wednesday evening reported 233 new local Covid-19 cases, bringing the total such cases in the day to 441.

Among the new cases, HCMC led with 124, followed by Binh Duong (57), Dong Nai (12), Quang Ngai (10), Ba Ria-Vung Tau (6), Dong Thap (5), Nghe An (4), An Giang (4), Phu Yen (4), Bac Ninh (3), Da Nang (2) and Bac Giang (2).

Health authorities are tracing contact history of 12 patients, with seven in HCMC, four in the southern province of An Giang and one in Da Nang City.

The total number Covid-19 patients in the latest wave is 13,495, with Bac Giang and HCMC accounting for over 70 percent.

The national Covid-19 tally since last year is at 16,863. Seventy-four patients were discharged Wednesday, bringing the total to 6,840.

A 61-year-old man in HCMC on Wednesday became the 81st Covid-19 death in the country.

Fourteen localities have gone 14 days without any new case, while 10 other localities have gone 30 days without any new case.
