The bomb, located 3 m underground, was found at 7 a.m. on Thursday at the construction site in Cam Xuyen District. Authorities then erected warning signs and prohibited people from coming near the area.
Cam Xuyen District Military Command specialists worked with military engineers from the Ha Tinh Military Headquarters on Friday to dig up and disable the 1.54-meter MK82 bomb.
The bomb has been taken away for disposal.
The bomb was determined to be a wartime relic. During the Vietnam War, several districts in Ha Tinh, including Cam Xuyen, were bombarded by thousands of U.S. bombs.
