The program is meant for people in positions like deputy chairperson of people’s councils and people’s committees.
Every year there will be four training sessions of two weeks with 15-17 people going abroad each time to Japan, France and other developed countries.
The training is expected to help the officials improve their policy making, leadership and working capabilities besides garnering first-hand experience of working methods in developed countries.
The government made the plans after the Communist Party's Politburo in July set a target for Vietnam to send around 400 officials overseas for training every year by 2025 and around 500 officials a year between 2026 and 2030.
