Ten people were detained in Hanoi Friday for posing as health workers at the My Dinh Stadium and selling fake Covid-19 test forms.

Spectators coming to watch the Vietnam v. Japan World Cup qualifying match on Thursday had to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus and test negative in the last 72 hours.

Police in Nam Tu Liem District said the 10 people, taking advantage of this, wore health workers’ uniforms and sold fake forms for VND200,000 ($8.81) each.

They did not actually perform tests, but sold over 300 forms, they said.

To manage the flow of people entering the stadium, the police used machines to scan QR codes. Around 12,000 turned up to watch the match.

Vietnam will play Saudi Arabia in the stadium next Tuesday.
