Cong Tri had 42 models wear iridescent evening dresses that impressed the audience with their 3D-style and classy materials.

Vietnamese designer Cong Tri launched his Autumn and Winter 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week Monday.

New York is one of the four largest fashion capitals in the world alongside London, Milan and Paris.

Tri presented on the world stage his signature work - cocktail dresses and red carpet costumes.

The task was a challenging one this time as it was the first joint venture between him and Kate Young, one of the top 10 stylists in Hollywood. Cong Tri had to strike a balance between his own creativity and suggestions from the fashion expert with long experience of working with A-list stars.

He came up with a 42 dresses collection called "Cuoc dao choi cua cac vi sao" (Walk of the Stars)

Explaining the inspiration for his latest work, he said: "For me, women are like the stars that always shine in someone's heart. I like to see women in prom dresses as gorgeous as celebrities on red carpet."

During his 15-minute window, Cong Tri introduced to the international audience classic evening dress styles including fluttering and fishtail dresses with advanced material-handling techniques.

He selected materials from expensive and quality sources in the U.S. and combined it with some traditional Vietnamese materials like silk. His collection also featured organza, brocade and iridescent silk.

The silk gown with embossing fabric-folding technique impressed audience and experts on the New York stage.

The collection used black, white and an iridescent color palette featuring yellow, red, and glittery pink-yellow hues. He used a 3D technique to enliven on stage styles that go back decades.

The 1980s style is currently causing a storm all over the world. The sleeve is large-sized, puffed-up; golden evening gowns and sparkling stone beads are placed densely and meticulously.

Cong Tri also exploited well the technique to cut and shape thin material, with a fully meshed corset with hand-sewn seams, supporting the body curve.

A silk jacket on a crystal-studded evening dress with feathers, and flowers with sequins and Swarovski stones was another eye catcher.

An elaborate technique was used to create a corset shape entirely with thin mesh and hand-sewing.

"The Walk of the Stars" was not merely a party of glittering golden dresses with long and short forms. It extended Cong Tri's achievements of the past year when he designed costumes for celebrities like Katy Perry, Rihanna and Gwen Stefani.

Before New York, the Vietnamese designer also stormed the Tokyo stage with his "Flower Lady" collection.
