Vietnam designer’s latest collection reveals stitch of 90s nostalgia

Chung Thanh Phongs Spring/Summer 2020 collection, I’m a Superstar, was presented in Ho Chi Minh City last weekend. With 120 new designs, the collection introduced audiences to a riot of colors and materials inspired by the 1990s. Phong decided to become a fashion designer in 2010, after entering the Top 10 in Viet Nam Idol 2007, a local version of singing contest American Idol.

Model Minh Tu was the first one to walk the runway in the show. She caught the spotlight when wearing a off-the-shoulder gown in metalic fabric. The Vietnamese designer do not miss the 2020 fashion trend as he adopts the pleat technique in many of his new designs.

Satin and sequince are one of the most-used material in the collection. Chung Thanh Phong wants to make his models girlish and unique, a concept the he has been pursuing for years.

To create the 90s vibes, models in the show chose to wear large earrings or necklaces. The fashion show featured a lot of senior Vietnamese models, who has not walked the runway for a long time. Chung Thanh Phong is a top designer in the Vietnamese fashion industry.
