Miss Universe Vietnam has won the world’s Timeless Beauty of 2018 title, becoming the first Vietnamese to do so.

Beauty pageant forum Missology.org named H’Hen Nie as the winner of the title on January 28, after she topped the shortlist of 10 beauty icons worldwide with 4,576 points.

H’Hen Nie is the first Vietnamese beauty and third in Asia to claim the title since it was instituted in 2004.

H’Hen Nie was evaluated against several criteria including her appearance, performance in a competition (Miss Universe) and worldwide influence.

Missology praised H’Hen Nie’s persistent efforts to succeed, saying she belonged to an ethnic minority community who was supposed to get married at 14; but she managed to go to college instead.

The website also acclaimed her kind heart. "Her selflessness was admirable as she decided to use her prize money to build a library in the countryside."

Missology.org also appreciated H’Hen Nie’s appearance at Miss Universe stage 2018 with her distinctive pixie hair and confident performance.

"She might not have won the crown, but H’Hen won the hearts of the people with her inspiring story. "From nothing, here I am. I can do it, you can do it," she said during her opening statement at the Miss Universe contest.

"The Vietnamese stunner defied traditions and standards and that makes her a true Timeless Beauty," the site gushed.

Born 1992 in the Central Highlands, H’Hen Nie was also the first Miss Vietnam from an ethnic minority group and the first Vietnamese woman to be a top 5 finisher at a Miss Universe contest.

Following H’Hen Nie in the Timeless Beauty contest was Miss International, Mariem Velazco from Venezuela (4,455 points), Miss Universe South Africa, Tamaryn Green (4,197 points), Miss Earth Portugal, Telma Madeira (4,197 points), Miss International Philippines, Ma Ahtisa Manalo (4,076 points).

Missosology.org had first selected 112 contestants from five major competitions around the world, whittled it down to Top 25 and then the Top 10.

"Timeless Beauty" is an annual title awarded since 2004.

Previous title winners include Venus Raj (2010), Olesia Stefanko (2011), Irene Esser (2012), Marine Lorphelin (2013), Paulina Vega (2014), Edymar Martinez (2015), Catriona Gray (2016) and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (2017).
