Quan A.P and Hoang Duyen have been named Best Asian Artist Vietnam and Best New Asian Artist Vietnam at the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Unable to attend the awards ceremony last weekend because of Covid-19, they expressed their appreciation and gratitude through video clips.

Quan A.P, real name Pham Anh Quan, said: "This is the first major international award I have received since my debut. I am very happy and can't say anything but thank you. I want to share this joy with my family, friends and beloved fans for always supporting me so I can be where I am today."

The Hanoi singer created a YouTube channel in 2016 and has posted several cover videos. In 2019 he started to sing professionally, and released a debut song titled 'Ai La Nguoi Thuong Em' (Who Will Love You), which has garnered over 66 million views on YouTube.

His later projects 'Bong Hoa Dep Nhat' (The Most Beautiful Flower) and 'Loi Xin Loi Vung Ve' (A Clumsy Apology) also became hits, topping trending videos on YouTube Vietnam.

Hoang Duyen, who made her debut album in March, received the Best New Asian Artist Vietnam for 'Sai Gon Dau Long Qua' (Dear Saigon It Hurts), which became a viral hit, entered the Top Trending YouTube chart and led iTunes Vietnam rankings.

She said in a video: "A thank you to the organizers of MAMA for paying attention to my musical journey. The award is like a surprise gift for me as I am still taking baby steps in pursuing music. Thank you to all my fans for showing support and love for me".

The Tay Ninh Province artist got a total of 12.3 million views and 918,000 listeners from 133 countries, according to Spotify Vietnam.

MAMA is a major South Korean event that honors the top artist from 10 Asian countries and territories for their contributions to musical development.
