Chefs from 51 restaurants will participate in French cuisine festival Goût de France this month.

The chefs will serve a special French dinner at their restaurant on March 21. The menu for this festival includes a type of French traditional cake.

The festival, held by Consulate General of France in HCMC, is a part of the international Goût de France cuisine festival held around the world to celebrate French gastronomy.

Goût de France (Good France) 2019 will see chefs from 2,500 restaurants in 150 countries and territories demonstrate their skills.

With 51 restaurants joining the Goût de France fray, Vietnam is among top seven countries participating in the event. This will also be the fifth time that event takes place in Vietnam.

French restaurants in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang City, the central towns of Hue and Nha Trang, and the southern town of Vung Tau are participating in the festival this year.

The participating restaurants are required to have a French chef or a chef that was trained in France, said Vincent Floreani, French consul-general in Vietnam.

The festival also includes a photo exhibition of French cheese and ham products that will remain open for three months starting March 21.

Five movies about French cuisine will be shown at the IDECAF theater in HCMC from March 12-30, and French cuisine training programs will be introduced at the Consulate General of France on March 21.
