Artists to give Saigon Covid frontline workers a helping hand

Local painters hope to auction more than 20 works to raise money for supporting doctors and nurses at the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
Khu Nha Thanh Da (Thanh Da Houses), oil on canvas painting of Pham Cong Danh, is among more than 20 paintings going under the hammer from June 23 to July 3. The event, held by My Thuat Bui art school in Ho Chi Minh City, will use money from these paintings to support Covid-19 frontline workers at the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The online auction organized by My Thuat Bui art school in HCMC will raise money for frontline Covid-19 workers at the hospital.

Art lovers can visit the My Thuat Bui Facebook page and make bids at increments of at least VND100,000 ($4.36).

According to Van Anh, representative of My Thuat Bui, local artists have shown their enthusiasm when knowing about the project, since they all hope Saigon will overcome the Covid outbreak as soon as possible. Last year, when the central city of Da Nang was struggling with the pandemic, the art school also held an auction to show its support.

Van Anh, a spokesperson for My Thuat Bui, said many artists have been keen to join the charity project and hope Saigon would quickly overcome the currentCovid outbreak. Last year, when the central city of Da Nang was struggling with the pandemic, the art school had held a similar auction to show its support.
