17 international craft groups to join Hue festival

The Hue Traditional Craft Festival, which opens Friday, will see the participation of 17 international groups from countries across the world.

The 17 international groups and representatives of organizations include those from Japan, South Korea, China, Brazil and Turkey, organizers said in a press release on Tuesday.

The Korean Traditional Craft Association and Cheongju Craft Exhibition Association from South Korea are among the international participants.

The 8th Hue Traditional Craft Festival, themed "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts" will run from April 26 to May 2. It will feature 16 groups of craftmanship and introduce products from 62 craft villages across the country, including embroidery, jewelry, woodwork, copper craft, pottery, conical hats, bamboo and rattan products.

As many as 350 oustanding craftsmen from famous craft villages will also participate in the festival.

The festival will feature several events including one that is focused on the ao dai, Vietnam’s traditional dress, another to honor ancestors and founders of several craft, a cuisine celebration, air balloons, flower shows and a concert by South Korean artists.

It will also showcase traditional products like lotus and brocade products, silk and traditional medicine.
