According to Mp Weekly, Tam shared the details of the incident in a press conference for a new police-crime drama at TVB, attended by Hong Kong’s Commissioner of Police Chu Yat Ming. The actor explained that he received a message stating he had not paid for an online service and was prompted to make a payment. After exchanging just a few texts, Tam lost over HK$8,000 (US$1,021).

He said he contacted his bank for assistance, but was informed that they were not responsible for the situation. While the sum was not large, the experience heightened his awareness of the growing issue of online scams, Tam said. He took the opportunity to encourage his audience to remain cautious and vigilant.

Tam, 45, made his acting debut in 2000 and has since become a well-known figure in TVB dramas. His notable roles include appearances in "Succession War," "Justice Bao: The First Year," "Forensic Heroes 4," "The Ringmaster," and "The Queen of News," where he starred alongside Charmaine Sheh.
