Miss Asia 1999 Elaine Ng, who had an affair with actor Jackie Chan, expressed heartbreak over her 26-year-old daughter Etta Ng being allegedly manipulated by her same-sex partner, 38, and growing distant from her mother.

According to QQ, in a recent livestream, Ng spoke about her life and that of her daughter. She said Etta is still learning and needs firsthand experiences to fully understand a mother’s intentions.

"No matter what I say, it won’t help," Ng said. "Only when she stumbles and feels pain will she realize it was wrong."

Ng revealed that she has not seen her daughter in over two years, a separation that has left her deeply saddened and concerned about Etta’s romantic relationship, which she believes involved deception.

"There is a large age gap between them," Ng said. "Etta is still naive and easily influenced by her partner, which made her vulnerable to being exploited."

Ng expressed caution about her daughter’s same-sex relationship, noting that Etta’s emotions remain unclear and her judgment still immature, which could lead to future regret. Yet she also acknowledged the value of life lessons: "Experiencing things early can also be considered a good thing."

During the livestream, Ng admitted her past parenting approach was flawed.

"I shouldn’t have just told her not to do things. That only backfires," she said.

The actress said she has gradually learned to respect her daughter’s independence, quietly support her, and become more patient. She hopes to welcome Etta back with a changed perspective.

"I’ve changed my mindset," Ng said. "I hope she comes back. Our home’s door is always wide open for her."

Reflecting on her life, Ng said she has no regrets, viewing every stage as a learning experience. She advised young people to carefully consider a partner’s character and sense of responsibility, rather than rushing into love based solely on appearance or wealth.

Ng currently lives alone in Hong Kong. Though not wealthy, she leads a fulfilling life, with her own home and a stable job that allows her to care for cats, garden, read, and paint.

Meanwhile, her daughter lives abroad under difficult circumstances. In Oct. 2022, media outlets photographed Etta standing in line for free meals on the streets of Toronto, her simple attire a stark contrast to her identity as "Jackie Chan’s daughter."

Ng, 52, was born into a single-parent family. Pampered by her mother, she grew up fashionable and lively. After her pageant win, she appeared in several films, including "Who is the Winner," "Old Time Buddy: To Catch a Thief," and "Highs and Lows."

According to The Straits Times, Ng made headlines in 1999 when she revealed she was pregnant with Chan’s child, giving birth to Etta later that year. At the time, Chan was still married to Joan Lin, whom he wed in 1982, and he did not acknowledge Etta at birth. Etta’s childhood was marked by hardship, media scrutiny, and peer discrimination.

Etta met her Canadian girlfriend Andi Autumn in Hong Kong in 2017. Despite a 12-year age gap, the couple quickly became close. They married in a simple ceremony in Toronto in Nov. 2018, after which Etta moved to Canada.
