Citing QQ, Znews reported that Gu addressed the rumors about their relationship in a recent livestream, acknowledging he was the man at the center of the scandal involving Liu. The two first met when Gu was 25 through mutual friends, and he later became Liu’s assistant, managing her professional affairs. Over time, they grew closer and began a romantic relationship in 2012, despite their 38-year age difference.

Gu claimed that Liu paid him a monthly salary of 10,000 yuan (approximately US$1,377), but did not offer additional benefits such as health insurance, despite the increasing demands of his work. However, he accepted the conditions and remained loyal to her.
Addressing rumors that he was the third party in Liu’s marriage to businessman Wang Jiaoyu, Gu denied the allegations, stating their relationship had begun before Liu married Wang.
The couple reportedly broke up in 2021, and Gu revealed that following the split, he experienced significant emotional and physical distress, including stress, hair loss, and insomnia. During the livestream, he also accused Liu of being sweet during their relationship but turning cold and unappreciative after their breakup. The 31-year-old photographer has since filed a lawsuit against Liu, demanding 5.04 million yuan (about $694,000) in compensation for his contributions to her career.
Gu’s livestream drew over 100,000 viewers, sparking mixed reactions. Some criticized him for exploiting the situation for financial gain, while others were shocked by his revelations and are now waiting for Liu’s response. The 69-year-old actress has remained silent on the matter.
The blogger also claimed that Liu had been involved with eight boyfriends and married four times, including her current husband. Rumors about Liu divorcing Wang began circulating in August, but she has not commented on those rumors publicly.
The scandal caused a stir on Chinese social media. Topics such as "Liu Xiaoqing’s affair," "Liu Xiaoqing’s views on infidelity," and "Liu Xiaoqing’s profile photo" dominated the trending list of Weibo, drawing millions of views and thousands of comments.
Liu is a renowned figure in Chinese cinema, celebrated for roles in "Wu Zetian," "Huoshao Efang Gong," "Huo Fenghuang," "Hibiscus Town," and "A Dream of Red Mansions."
At the peak of her career in 2002, she was investigated for business law violations and tax evasion, resulting in 442 days in prison. Despite this setback, Liu gradually reclaimed her position in the industry, showcasing her talent in both film and television. She remains active, frequently attending events and taking on new acting projects.
