According to St Headline, Lee appeared in public on Jan. 3 for the first time since confirming that the relationship had ended. He said he and Wong had "broken up peacefully," without disputes or public recriminations.

Addressing reports that he had spent large sums of money on Wong, Lee denied the claims. He said he had merely kept cash at home for her daily expenses and bought her items she liked, stressing that the spending was within his financial means and never excessive.

Lee admitted he remains heartbroken over the failed relationship but said his greater concern is for Wong’s well-being.

"How could she have stayed away from her husband and child for so long during our eight-year relationship? She must have had her own difficulties and things she couldn’t talk about," he said. "What kind of mother could stay away from her child for that long?"

He also said that he hopes Wong can live a peaceful life after the turmoil, while he has lost hope in love and now only seeks happiness and inner calm, adding that he has no intention of dating again.

The couple’s relationship became public in 2020, following reports that Wong had suffered a miscarriage of Lee’s child, according to The Straits Times. Lee was previously married once and has three children with his ex-wife, all of whom are older than Wong.

In Feb. 2024, Wong was arrested for overstaying her Hong Kong tourist visa. Investigators also found that she had used forged U.S. university diplomas when applying to enter Hong Kong under a preferential immigration scheme.

At a court hearing in June 2024, Wong was sentenced to 25 months in prison for seven offenses, including using false documents, providing false information to gain entry to Hong Kong, and overstaying. She pleaded guilty and accepted the sentence. The court granted leniency, and she was released in July 2025 after serving 18 months.

Throughout her imprisonment, Lee frequently visited Wong and wrote letters to her. He also went to pick her up upon her release and proposed to her. Wong later returned to her hometown in Foshan while Lee remained in Hong Kong.

In December last year, a YouTuber posted photos of Wong in Foshan, claiming they showed her with her husband, whom she married in 2007, and their 16-year-old son. Lee later contacted Wong and confirmed the information was true, after which the couple officially ended their relationship.

Lee has appeared in TVB productions since the 1980s and is best known for his roles in classic dramas such as "The Return of the Condor Heroes," "The Smiling, Proud Wanderer," "Journey to the West," and "Forensic Heroes.’ He is also active as a singer.
