According to Asia One, 23-year-old Moon is currently a student at Columbia University in the U.S. Her debut marks a significant moment as the first chaebol (family-run conglomerate) heir to enter the K-pop industry.
Rumors about Moon’s potential involvement in K-pop first surfaced last year when she was spotted in a dance studio with trainees from Meovv, The Black Label’s first idol project. Despite the speculation, Moon had not shared her future plans until now.
Other members of Allday Project include Woochan, a former member of BigHit Music’s pre-debut group Trainee A; Youngseo, who was briefly part of the lineup for the girl group ILLIT; dancer-choreographer Bailey; and model Tarzzan.
Moon is also the great-granddaughter of Samsung founder Lee Byung Chul, as her grandmother Lee Myung Hee, is his youngest daughter. According to Forbes, Lee Myung Hee’s net worth was estimated at US$840 million in 2020, placing her 42nd on the magazine’s list of South Korea’s 50 richest individuals that year.
Moon’s mother Chung Yoo Kyung, currently serves as president of Shinsegae Group. Her family’s Shinssegae Group is one of South Korea’s top three department store chains alongside Lotte and Hyundai Department Store.
Allday Project will be The Black Label’s second idol group. The agency also represents high-profile figures like actor Park Bo Gum and K-pop superstars Blackpink’s Rosé and Big Bang’s Taeyang.
