The national football team of Vietnam will return to play an exhibition tournament with India and Singapore in September.

The team is set to gather for training on September 17. On the 21st, they will play Singapore and six days later, India. The match between India and Singapore will take place on September 24.

All matches will be played at Thong Nhat Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City. The team that earns the most points will win the tournament, hosted by Vietnam Football Federation.

The tournament will occur on FIFA days, the period of time that domestic leagues take a break for international friendlies. This event is considered a warm-up for Vietnam to aim for 2022 AFF Cup, set to occur at the end of the year.

At present, Vietnam head coach Park Hang-seo is watching domestic leagues closely to choose quality players and find more talents for the tournament.

Vietnam are 97th on the FIFA ranking. India and Singapore are behind, at 104th and 159th.

In the most recent friendly, Vietnam defeated Afghanistan 2-0 on June 1.

India are in fine form under Croatian coach Igor Stimac. In the final qualifiers of 2023 Asian Cup, they won all three matches to advance to the main event. Meanwhile, Singapore, under the lead of Japanese coach Nishigaya Takayuki, were inconsistent when losing to Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and managing to beat Cambodia.
