Corderio came to Vietnam earlier this year to seek a place in V. League. He was introduced to many clubs here. First he went for trial at SHB Da Nang but didn’t get selected by the coach. He then tried his luck at Song Lam Nghe An and Hanoi FC but to no avail.
Only HCMC agreed to give him a contract after trial. However, HCMC will only sign him for six months while an extension would solely depend on his performance.
HCMC didn’t have that much of a choice for a foreign striker as the new season approaches. Since they have just parted ways with Panamanian player Cox Goods, Corderio will be their striker for the first half of the season.
Although the HCMC head coach Tran Minh Chien was not entirely satisfied with Corderio, he hopes the 30-year-old striker would fit into the club formation.
The new season of V. League is scheduled to start on Friday.
