Australia have gathered a strong squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier with Vietnam.

Key players like Matthew Ryan, Mathew Leckie, Trent Sainsbury, Aaron Mooy, Tom Rogic and Aziz Behich are present, along with a few young players that competed at Tokyo Olympics. Defensive midfielder Ajdin Hrustic won't be able to play due to suspension.

Mooy has played for many clubs in England like Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion FC, while Rogic has played 10 years for Scottish club Celtic. Both Mooy and Rogic are crucial players in the midfield of Australia.

Main striker Adam Taggart won't be able to play since he has just recovered from an injury. Taggart is the teammate of Vietnam national keeper Dang Van Lam at Japanese club Cerezo Osaka. Lam is also absent in this game due to injury.

Australia had a great start in the final round of World Cup qualifiers with three consecutive wins. But in the next three games, they lost one and drew two, and dropped to third in group B with 11 points.

Vietnam lost 0-1 to Australia in the first leg. After six straight losses, The Golden Dragons are still seeking their first point in the final round.

The two teams will play at Rectangular Stadium, Melbourne on Jan. 27. Later, Vietnam will return home to face China on Feb. 1.
