Authorities in the central tourist city of Da Nang plan to set up a food street near Nam O fishing village in Lien Chieu District to give a fillip to tourism.

The 500-meter street, not far from Nguyen Tat Thanh Park, will be open from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily with over 50 stalls selling Vietnam's most popular street foods such as banh trang nuong (grilled rice paper), grilled skewer, spring rolls, and fried banana.

The date of its opening has not been announced.

City authorities hope the food street would help bring more tourists to the Nam O eco-tourism area, famous for its long, sandy beaches.

Situated three kilometers from the foot of the Hai Van Pass, Nam O is one of Vietnam's oldest and most famous fish-sauce making villages with a history of more than 400 years.

Da Nang received 483,000 foreign tourists last year, up 4.6 times from 2021, when Covid was still preventing travel.

Despite being the central region's tourism hub, the city lacks nightlife activities for well-heeled tourists.
