Vietnamese singer in running for Asian TV award

Wren Evans's smash hit "Gap May" (Lucky) is among the nominees for Best Music Video at the annual Asian Television Awards to be given away in Manila on December 1.

The Vietnamese representative will go up against artists from China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Qatar, New Zealand, Australia, and others.

Since its premiere in January, "Lucky" has racked up over 4.8 million views on YouTube.

It won the 2022 MTV Fan Choice competition held in July by MTV Vietnam.

The 21-year-old Hanoian began to write songs for the piano as a child.

He and his two friends started a band called Jeune Homme when they were in school. He is fluent in English and French.

Launched in 1996 the Asian Television Awards recognize excellence in programming, production and performance. It has awards in over 40 categories and attracts hundreds of entries annually.

Vietnamese singer Jack's "Hoa Hai Duong" (Camelia) won the Best Music Video award last year.
