Hundreds of fans in HCMC braved the rain to meet Thai actor August Vachiravit on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old is in town to promote 'La May Tren Bau Troi Ai Do' (Side Seeing), a film co-produced by Vietnam and Thailand and set for release in theaters nationwide today.

The romcom is about the journey of a young Vietnamese girl called May (played by Ngoc Lan Vy) to Thailand to meet her idol Park (played by Push Puttichai) on her birthday.

But she runs into Boy (Vachiravit), a sincere and kind but clumsy motorbike taxi driver, and his friend James (James Vejvongsatichat), and falls into awkward situations.

When he arrived at the event venue, Vachiravit was surprised by the large number of fans despite the rain.

"I'm touched by everyone's love for me. I wish I could speak Vietnamese more to show my love to the fans."

The actor sang the soundtrack song 'Duoi Nhung Ang May Bay' (Under The Clouds).

When a woman fan praised his appearance and expressed her affection for him, he said: "Your compliments made my day."

Puttichai, also a famous Thai actor, could not attend the premiere of the film as planned due to personal reasons.

Vachiravit debuted in 2014 in Love Sick, and shot to fame with romcom-horror films Pee Nak 1 and 2.
